Rushbearing - meet outside Ambleside Primary School at 2.15pm
Ambleside Rushbearing is a wonderful traditional event dating back to the 17th century when rushes covering church floors were thrown out and replaced. Please see 'news for more details about the day. All are welcome to join in with carrying a bearing or enjoy watching the procession as it goes through the streets of Ambleside. The programme for the day is as follows: Dressing the Bearings from 9.30am outside Ambleside Parish Centre; procession assembles from 2.15pm outside Ambleside Primary School; Procession Leaves School at 2.30pm; Rushbearing Service at St Mary’s Church approx 3.30pm, followed by Gingerbread for all participants, and Tea for participating children; Sports on the School Field approx 4.15pm (weather dependant)

Informal Communion Service without music, usually in the Wordsworth chapel within St Mary's for 30 minutes. A small but very welcoming congregation. On the fourth Wednesday of the month there is also a communion service at Millans Court at 11am
